2026-2027 Chapter Registration
After submitting the Chapter Registration form, you will receive an emailed invoice to use for Chapter Dues payment.
Register your Chapter at the form above by September 11th, 2026 for Reading Bowl Team eligibility.
Reading Bowl: There is an additional $50 competition administrative fee for chapters wishing to participate in Reading Bowl. Each school may have one team with a maximum of 15 members taking each exam. See the Reading Bowl page for more information.

Reading Bowl Competition Administrative Fee - $50.00 per year

Chapter dues are based on total school/organization size within chapter grade levels*.
See below for fee structure:
*There is an additional $50 competition administrative fee for chapters wishing to participate in Reading Bowl. |
*For groups registering more than one chapter (e.g. private schools with an elementary and middle chapter, libraries with children in different levels, etc.) you will register and pay chapter dues separately for each chapter level. Dues are based on the total student count within that school/group level. Club Tome chapters will base dues on total number of students in grades 2-5.
*Chapter dues are nonrefundable. |
Tome Society Chapter Quick Start
- Register your chapter
- Pay your chapter dues ASAP to get the most out of your annual membership
- Look for an email with a receipt for your dues & your password to the Adviser’s page
- Make a chapter calendar
- This may include: Reading Bowl exam windows, competition deadlines, Tome Literacy Week activities, chapter meetings, Reading Bowl practices, service project dates, TomeCon registration deadlines, TomeCon, end of your banquet
- Recruit club participants
- Remember: Every child in your paid school level is a member of your Tome chapter and can participate in competitions!
- Recruit club officers or leadership team
- Familiarize yourself with the Books of the Month list.
- Plan to meet monthly to discuss the titles with your chapter.
- Locate the monthly discussion guides on the Advisers page and make a plan for using them with your chapter
- Familiarize yourself with the Chapter of the Year application and set a goal for your chapter.
- Make a plan for celebrating Tome Literacy Week with your school
- Make a plan for a chapter service project
- Make a fundraising plan for chapter dues or TomeCon expenses
- Keep it simple - selling $0.25 lollipops can go a long way!
- Familiarize yourself with the individual & team competitions & awards
- Recruit students to participate in each competition
- Your chapter can submit one entry per competition
- Some Media Specialists use Tome competitions as collaborative classroom projects, and pick the best product as their school entry!
- Encourage your students and teachers to read the Tome Book Award titles
- Encourage your students to rate the Tome Book Award titles at www.tomesociety.org/vote
- High School Advisers:
- Familiarize yourself with the Tau Omicron Mu Epsilon Honors Society & the Dale Pratt Memorial Scholarship applications
- Encourage juniors and seniors to apply!
- Encourage your underclassmen to begin tracking TOME points to apply in the future
- Familiarize yourself with the Tau Omicron Mu Epsilon Honors Society & the Dale Pratt Memorial Scholarship applications
- Make a plan for attending TomeCon with your chapter. Register early! Tickets do sell out!
- Plan an end of year celebration for your chapter
Reading Bowl Team Quick Start
- Complete the Tome Society Chapter Quick Start Guide steps, as well as the following:
- Register your chapter & postmark your chapter dues by September 11, 2026!
- Add [email protected] to your school’s email whitelist to be sure you get important info!
- Be sure your school devices can access www.classmarker.com
- Familiarize yourself with the Reading Bowl rules & procedures
- Familiarize yourself with the Reading Bowl Exam Book lists - these are different from the Books of the Month
- Make a reading schedule for your team
- Make a plan for book sharing for your team
- Recruit team members
- Your team can have up to 15 students compete in each testing round; this does not need to be the same 15 students each round.
- Select a date & a backup date within each testing window when your team will take the exam.
- Everyone must be in the same location at the same time for testing.
- We strongly recommend not waiting until the last day of the window to test as testing windows will not be extended due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
- Set practice dates for your team
- Read the Reading Bowl exam books along with your team
- Create practice test questions for your team
- Test your assigned classmarker.com logins before the first testing window begins
- These will arrive in an email a few weeks before the first exam
- Do not allow students to change these usernames or passwords!
- Prepare your team and have a great season!
- If your team is placing well and has a chance of advancing to the in-person National Championship at TomeCon, we strongly encourage you to purchase TomeCon tickets early. These do sell out. Teams who cannot attend will forfeit their spot in the championship.
