Scholarship Guidelines
Mrs. Dale Pratt was a faithful Tome Society volunteer and literacy supporter. The Dale Pratt Memorial Scholarship is open annually to active chapter Tome Society seniors (12th graders) who are also inductees in our Tau Omicron Mu Epsilon Honor Society. To be considered for the scholarship, seniors will write an essay based on the annual Tome Society theme, incorporating related content from It List books that year. The scholarship will be awarded annually in the amount of $500.
Requirements:
In addition to proof of GPA, there are two required portions that must be submitted by the applicant to be considered for the scholarship.
Entries for the scholarship must be submitted by the local chapter adviser on the Dale Pratt Memorial Scholarship Submission Form (found on the Advisers webpage) by the posted Spring Competition deadline.
The $500 scholarship will be awarded to the winning student's college at the end of the student's first Fall semester of college during the next calendar year after award.
Requirements:
- The applicant must be a 12th grade student (senior in high school) of an active Tome Society chapter.
- The applicant must also have at least at 3.5 cumulative high school GPA (on a 4.0 scale) at the time of the scholarship submission.
- The applicant must also be an inductee of the Tau Omicron Mu Epsilon Honor Society.
- The applicant could have been accepted into Tau Omicron Mu Epsilon as either a Junior or a Senior in high school.

- The applicant must submit a 500-750 word essay following the guidelines of the Theme Essay Competition
- The applicant must provide a reference letter (12 point font of one page or less) from a teacher, club sponsor, coach, or administrator that testifies to the student's character, contribution to community, work ethic, and love of literacy.
- NOTE: Please make sure that the reference letter includes contact information for the reference, states how long the reference has known the applicant and in what role.
