Niche Groups

Many Tome Society chapters choose to sponsor niche literacy related groups within their school chapters. These groups can meet in addition to regular Tome Society meetings or you could have break out sessions. They offer students another level of specialization and comradeship with their peers. Find information about possible groups below, but your choices are not limited to these! Let your students lead the way.

Creative Writing Group

For your students who aspire to be authors, your chapter could sponsor activities for Nanowrimo (National Novel Writing Month) each November, as well as poetry activities for National Poetry Month in April. Another option is to host your own local version of the discontinued online writing event, Script Frenzy, for future screen writers and playwrights in April; this is similar to Nanowrimo.

Anime Group

Graphic Novels and Manga are growing in popularity with teens. Your chapter could sponsor events for Will Eisner Week in March, as well as other Anime related activities.

Gaming Group

Online gaming is huge with teens. Your Gaming Group could host a game night in the library or delve into the world of creating their own video games. You could also have a dedicated Gaming Day during Teen Tech Week.

Coding Group

Teen Tech Week is the perfect time to draw in students interested in coding, app design, and computer programing. This group could host guest speakers or chat sessions for students interested in learning more about coding.
