We also have a need for volunteers the day of conference. If you can attend TomeCon at the Gainesville Campus of the University of North Georgia on March 17, 2016 from 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM or any portion of the day, we also need help the day of conference. All t-shirts must be PRE-ordered/paid as part of your chapter's TomeCon 2016 registration. Include size and payment with the registration form to order.
T-shirts are $15 each. The shirt is available in sizes Youth Small - Adult 2XL. TomeCon regular registration deadline is less than one month away. Please use this poster to advertise to your students. TomeCon is for EVERY Tome student. The day is full of concurrent sessions and special speakers relating to your literacy standards.
Remember, TomeCon ends the 2015-2016 year and kicks off the 2016-2017 year. So if your chapter was not very active this year, TomeCon is a great way to get students fired up for next school year. Potential advisers are welcome to attend to prepare for starting a chapter next school year. Registration for TomeCon 2016 is now open. TomeCon 2016 will be Thursday, March 17 at the Gainesville Campus of the University of North Georgia.
Regular registration must be postmarked by February 12 and is $12 per student. Late registration must be postmarked by March 1 and is $15 per student. Our conference will have keynote speaker Jaleigh Johnson and concurrent sessions based on the literacy standards our club promotes. Jaleigh will be available for book signing for her book "Mark of the Dragonfly". Additionally, the book talk competition and the final round of the reading bowl competition will take place face-to-face at TomeCon. Remember, the conference is designed for all Tome Society students, whether competing or not, so please bring your whole chapters. You don't want your students to miss this amazing day!!! There is an OPTIONAL lunch available for pre-purchase for $8 and also optional t-shirt pre-order purchase for $15 (design coming soon). These must be designated on the registration form and paid for with registration. Also, Barnes & Noble will be on site with this year and next year's It List books for purchase. And we will once again have our onsite raffle drawings ($1 per ticket). These can be purchased at conference with NO pre-purchase required. All chapters are required to have at least one adult adviser in attendance and at least one adult volunteer to assist with the conference. Volunteer training will begin at 8:30 AM. We have several new Spring Competitions, so please review carefully. TomeCon 2016 registration information will be forthcoming the beginning of next week. All awards for fall/spring competitions will be given at TomeCon on March 17, 2016 at University of North Georgia Gainesville Campus. Plus, there will be a wealth of activities all day for students who have not competed in any events during the year. The deadline for students to apply to receive the Membership Madness & Mania Awards (open to all levels) and for membership in Tau Omicron Mu Epsilon Honor Society (11th & 12th grade only) is March 1.
Membership Madness & Mania Students who achieve Membership Madness OR Membership Mania will receive their award at TomeCon 2016 on March 17, 2016. To earn a membership award an individual student must be responsible for recruiting new members to your chapter between January 1 and March 1. Students who recruit at least 5 new members will receive the Membership Madness Award. Students who recruit at least 10 new members will receive the Membership Mania Award. For Club Tome the adviser needs to verify that all recruited students are active members. For Tome and Jr. Tome advisers need to verify that dues for recruited students are sent to Tome by March 1. Tau Omicron Mu Epsilon Tau Omicron Mu Epsilon Students in grades 9-11 can track their chapter activities on the TOME Points Sheet from year to year. The submission packet document is posted on the Tome Society webpage on both our Resources and Competitions page. The file must be opened, saved, and edited in Microsoft Word. The file is restricted so only certain portions maybe typed on. PLEASE read the directions completely. Chapter of the Year packets must be postmarked by March 1, but each chapter should begin building their documentation now. All entries must be TYPED and BOUND in order. There is a max of 1850 points available. Chapters will be honored as follows: Honor Roll: Minimum of 400 points Bronze Chapters: Minimum of 500 points (Minimum of 15 members) Silver Chapters: Minimum of 750 points (Minimum of 20 members) Gold Chapters: Minimum of 1,000 points (Minimum of 30 members) Superior Chapter – Top 2 and 3 Points Earning Chapters Overall Chapter of the Year – Top 1 Point Earning Chapter Chapter earning the most points will be named Overall Chapter of the Year. Second and Third places will also be awarded Superior Chapter. Entries will be DISQUALIFIED that do not follow directions exactly (handwritten, not bound, postmarked late, etc). Good luck! All competitions must be submitted by the adviser on the Canvas Adviser group assignment (coming soon) by December 15, 2015 at 6 pm.
